More Art at Home: Grades K, 1 and 2

Project #1 -

Do you remember how we learned about Georgia O'Keeffe?  Below is a link to a video that shows some of her paintings in a museum.  Can you spot the red poppy painting in the video?

Here's what you can do: Watch the video, and then get out any art supplies you have and draw something in the style of Georgia O'Keeffe... that means draw it BIG, and out to the edges of the paper.  You could draw a flower, but also a bug, a toy, a leaf, anything you like, just make it big, and up close.  If you have crayons, markers, or paints at home, add some color.  Have fun!

P.S.  Here's link to more great videos if you want to learn about more artists and more art techniques!

Project #2 -
Click on the link below to get to the Tate Paint page.  Create an online work of art that is totally unique.  You may try making a work of art that uses only the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) or only the secondary colors (green, purple, orange).  Again, be creative, have fun!

If you'd like, you can have someone at home take a photo of your creation and email it to me at mgoldma@longmeadow.k12.ma.us.  I'll make an art gallery on the Center School Art Blog.  Have fun!!
