Wise Person Portraits by Grade 3

"Seek Wise People" is one of the tenets of the Peacebuilder's program.  Third graders first learned about the portraits and unique style of painter William H. Johnson.
Next they sketched portraits of a wise person in their own life, and lastly transformed the sketch into a colorful portrait in the style of William H. Johnson.  Scroll down to read the artist's statements...

A special Valentine's Day lesson for Tuesday's third, fourth and fifth graders, I can't believe how fantastic they came out.

We read books and watched music videos about the primary and secondary colors.
And then of course kindergartners mixed the primaries to create the secondaries and painted these works of art!
