Pinch Pot Pets by Grade 2

This project was inspired by the blog http://cassiestephens.blogspot.com.  Second graders brainstormed ideas and made a sketch, and then got to work first creating a pinch pot out of self-drying clay, and then adding all the details to make it a unique "pet".

Miniature Portraits in Progress

This summer, our elementary community read The Sixty Eight Rooms by Marianne Malone.  Click here to see some images of the actual Thorne Rooms.  And click here to try out a maze based on the Thorne Rooms called Game of Thornes.  I was inspired by all of the tiny artwork on the walls of the Thorne Rooms, so students are starting off the year by creating four inch tall miniature portraits.  They can choose to draw a portrait of a character from the story, or a self-portrait.  It's only the second day of school, so we've just gotten started, but here are some of our miniature portraits so far...from Grade 2 and 3....
