Valentines Day Suncatchers!

A special Valentine's Day lesson for Tuesday's third, fourth and fifth graders, I can't believe how fantastic they came out.

Primary and Secondary Paintings by Gr. K

We read books and watched music videos about the primary and secondary colors.

And then of course kindergartners mixed the primaries to create the secondaries and painted these works of art!

Idiom Drawings by Grade 4

Fourth graders chose an idiom to illustrate, the results are clever and creative!  See if you can guess the idioms...(answers below).

Hand Zebras by Grade 2

These are part of our Square 1 Fundraiser for the Center School PTO.  Second graders observed photographs of real zebras in their habitat in order to help them make their drawings even more realistic.

Texture "Wild Things" by Grade 1

After reading "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, we examined all the various types of texture found in the illustrations of the wild things.  First graders created their own original wild things and labeled the textures that they added.

Laurel Burch Cats by Grade 3

Third graders filled their cat drawings with colorful patterns, inspired by the paintings of artist, Laurel Burch.

Texture Castles by Grade K

Kindergartners drew castles using squares, rectangles, triangles and more.  Then they filled their drawings with texture with the help of texture screens.
