Third graders used two new watercolor techniques to paint two papers: a crayon resist and a wash. Warm colors were used for one, and cool colors for the other. Then they created their weaving out of the two. We had an extra class before vacation and tried out our paper weaving skills on some cut out penguins as well.

Grade 1 Fall Leaves
These were made my rolling out clay dough and cutting out leaf shapes. Students then drew the veins onto the leaves. When they were dry, they were painted with fall colors. We had them hanging in a beautiful display, and just took them down.

Recycled Magazine Bowls by Grade 4
I got the idea for these from another art teacher's blog: thomaselementaryart.blogspot.com, and thought it was the most amazing idea. We talked all about ways we can re-use different types of "trash".
Fourth graders worked by rolling up magazine pages, and then rolled those into a large coil which they finally shaped into a bowl, which was painted with acrylic gloss medium to make it more sturdy.

Paper Flower Sculptures by Grade K
Students learned tracing, cutting, and paper folding techniques while making these 3D paper flowers. I found the idea at one of my favorite craft website: www.madebyjoel.com
