Students began this project by learning about the complementary colors (colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel). They brainstormed "peace" or "peacebuilder" words, or words that make them think about feeling at peace. The challenge was keeping the words 5 letters or less! The results are really amazing!

Peace Word Paintings
Students brainstormed words that represent the feeling of peace, and created a word painting using complementary colors. They used a previously made "complementary color spinner" to help remind them what colors to use. They are in-process, but coming out great!

Wire Sculpture Fish

Works of HeART
Students in grades K-5 learned about how artists collaborate. Each student in the school made one little heart for our enormous heart chains. They are truly works of HeART !

We Are Peace Builders!
For our very first project, every grade learned how to say peace in many languages, and created peace signs using words and patterns. They looked awesome adorning the school for Open House!

Quilts of Gee's Bend Collages
