Ceiling Tiles for the Cafe

Second graders are working on an exciting project:  painting PeaceBuilder-inspired ceiling tiles to go on the ceiling of the cafe.  More info to come on this cool project....!

Collage Self-Portraits

We read the book The Colors of Us by Karen Katz before embarking on these collage self-portraits.  I'm super impressed with how close to real-life they came out!














Character Trait Self Portraits

These are by grade 3, but grades 4 and 5 also completed a similar lesson.  We learned about self-portraits, Frida Kahlo, warm and cool colors AND character traits while creating these fabulously colorful works of art.

We Are Peace Builders!

For our very first project, every grade learned how to say peace in many languages, and created peace signs using words and patterns.  They looked awesome adorning the school for Open House!

Paper Sculpture by Grade 3

Third graders viewed and discussed the paper sculptures of contemporary artist, Jen Stark.  
Their goal was to see how tall AND sturdy they could make these paper sculpture creations!  We also learned all about complimentary colors to add some extra "zing" to the sculptures.
